Fishing in France

Fishing is a great way to spend a holiday in France, there are many lakes and rivers where fishing is good, and saltwater fishing is exciting along the Atlantic as well as the Mediterranean coasts.

Good fishing regions include Brittany (salmon and trout), Franche-Comté with many lakes, Languedoc-Roussillon with mountain fishing, and Midi-Pyrénées famous for the fario trout. Trips with local fishermen are possible along the Atlantic coast, where popular catches include crayfish, lobster, scallops, crabs, shrimps and mussels.

Deep-sea-fishing are widely available on the Côte d'Azur.

The most popular
fishing lakes of the country include; Star Lake, Raynbow End, La Couarde, Etang du Moulin and Birch Pool Retreats. The lakes are surrounded by lush green forests and picturesque landscapes. Most of the fishing lakes have good resorts and lodges where one can stay during a fishing holiday. The fishing resorts have all the facilities one need, and one can hire fishing rods and fishing boats. In many places night fishing is also allowed.

There are certain rules one must follow when fishing in France. For instance, artificial baits cannot be used, it is not allowed to hire more then three fishing rods, trout pellets cannot be used, and other rules. For river fishing a permit is needed, it can be obtained from local city halls.
